Michele's Bio
I love bodywork! I love to give it, and I love to receive it. I had my first massage in 1999, after being in a car accident, and received many more massages and chiropractic treatments in the following year. I was amazed with the results and fascinated to discover that I had emotions stored in my body. As I was able to let go and release the patterns of tension in my muscles, I also released these old feelings. My healing jumped to a whole new level, and I fell in love with bodywork.
Seven years later, after much soul-searching for career guidance, I attended the Brian Utting School of Massage (from 2007-2008). This 1000-hour training gave me a strong base of deep tissue and Swedish techniques, as well as myofascial release, neuromuscular technique, sports massage, injury treatment, positional release, pregnancy massage, and hydrotherapy. Since graduating, I have pursued training in many techniques, with focused studies on injury treatment, Mana Lomi massage, intra-oral and facial massage, abdominal massage, and most recently breast massage. I worked for 3 years at a clinical massage practice in Bellingham, and for 9 years at the lovely Willows Inn on Lummi Island. I am confident working on most injuries, and continue seeking to learn new techniques. I also enjoy giving relaxation or wellness massage, and especially love Hot Stones! I maintain a lively private practice on Lummi Island. In my free time I love to garden, hike in the mountains, paddleboard, cook, snuggle my cats, read, knit, felt, create herbal medicines, dance, and travel. What I bring to the table Compassion, Empathy, Knowledge, Experience, Insight, Joy, Curiosity, Aloha, and LOVE. |
